In the nine years since Erika and Jake MuΓ±oz launched their Seis Curbside Kitchen food truck, the couple have opened two Seis Kitchen restaurants, including their walk-up flagship at the Mercado San Agustin on the west side.
On Monday, July 26, the couple will open their third, this one in a new shopping plaza in Oro Valley.
And they arenβt finished: The couple is still shopping for an east-side location and isnβt ruling out venturing into the Phoenix market some day.
The Oro Valley location, at 9740 N. Oracle Road near East Linda Vista Boulevard, is in a 3,350-square-foot space whose neighbors include an outpost of the popular Dutch Bros. coffee chain.
The space has a 1,184-square-foot wraparound L-shaped patio that can accommodate 60 diners and has what Erika MuΓ±oz describes as a spectacular view of the nearby Pusch Ridge range.
βItβs such a beautiful location,β she said.
Inside, the restaurant can seat 143, which is about the size of the Seis Kitchen in Joesler Village at 1765 E. River Road, which opened in 2017.
The Oro Valley menu will be the same as the other locations β scratch-made fare drawing from various regions in Mexico. Like its sister restaurants, this one will offer breakfast burritos including the El Padre with Adobo steak and the El Nino featuring birria; and lunch and dinner tacos, entrees and burritos including crispy avocado tacos, a surf and turf burrito with steak and grilled shrimp, street tacos, tortas and Mexico City style quesadillas.
The MuΓ±ozes, who launched their food truck in 2012 and regularly set up at Dragoon and Borderlands brewing, started scouting an Oro Valley location in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic put the brakes on everything in March 2020. They signed the lease on the Oracle Road location last August.
