A 2-year-old boy who was found by his parents floating in a pool on Tucson's northwest side Thursday died Saturday night, according to Northwest Fire. Β

Paramedics of the Northwest Fire District were dispatched shortly after 6:30 p.m. July 20 to the 4300 block of West Rae Circle, Capt. Brian Keeley, a fire district spokesman, said Friday.

The neighborhood is north of West Ina Road and west of North Oldfather Road.

Paramedics found the child in cardiac arrest with CPR being performed by a parent. The child was rushed to a hospital, said Keeley.

Initial reports were that the boy was last seen by the parents less than five minutes before he was found. There was no barrier around the pool, Keeley said.

This makes the 10th water-related incident reported to the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona. Since January, there have been five drownings and five near-drownings in Pima County.Β
