A 16-year-old driver was killed in a two-car crash Thursday night on Tucson's east side, Tucson police say.

Just before 10:30 p.m., the unidentified teen was driving a green Honda Prelude north on South Wilmot Road when it collided with a a white Dodge Journey making a left onto East Broadway, Tuson police said Friday in a news release.

The Honda glanced off the Dodge and struck a traffic signal pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Honda, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the crash scene. No one in the Dodge, which was also being driven by a 16-year-old, was injured, the release said.

Speed was not a factor in the crash police said. The investigation continues.
