A 68-year-old man has died days after being struck by a vehicle as he walked on Tucson's far southeast side, police say.
About 11 p.m. Oct. 22, Alfred Diaz was walking in the 10000 block of East Irvington Road, near South Houghton Road, when he was struck by a Honda CR-V that was traveling east on the same dark street, Tucson police said Wednesday in a news release. Police were notified Oct. 29 that Diaz had died at the hospital.
The unidentified 66-year-old driver stopped immediately and cooperated with authorities.
Detectives are working to determine if Diaz was walking in the road or attempting to cross Irvington when he was struck.
Diaz was not near a crosswalk and detectives noted that there is no street lighting in the area.
The investigation continues.
