A Tucson man was convicted of killing a bicyclist while driving under the influence on the city's east side more than two years ago.

Eric Corral, 47, was convicted of negligent homicide, leaving the scene after causing an accident resulting in death, and DUI, the Pima County Attorney's Office said Tuesday.

Authorities said Corral failed to stop at Valencia and Nexus roads when Scott Koch entered the crosswalk with a walk signal on Aug. 12, 2016.

Corral ran the red light striking Koch, which witnesses described as "Koch being launched in the air by the passenger side windshield and then falling to the side of the road," the attorney's office said.

He died 30 minutes later.

Corral drove about 10 miles away with a shattered windshield before leading police on a short chase. He stopped after being cut off by a taxi.

Corral's blood alcohol concentration was 0.313 percent almost two hours after the collision, the attorney's office said.

Officers found an open beer bottle, an opened 12-pack of alcohol, and mini liquor bottles around the car's interior.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 28.
