Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night on Tucson’s northeast side, authorities say.

The crash happened about 10:45 p.m. Sunday near East Camino Miraval and North Campbell Avenue, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in. a news release.

on reports of a crash involving a 1996 Honda Prelude and a 2013 Ford Fusion.

A 1996 Honda Prelude traveling south on Campbell Avenue at a high rate of speed crossed left of center and smashed into a 2013 Ford Fusion, the release said.

Two unidentified passengers in the Honda died at the crash scene, and the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, the release said.

The driver and passenger in the Ford were not injured.

The investigation continues.
