A man fatally shot in a midtown residence Monday was identified as 33-year-old Greg Ridgley, police said.
On Aug. 21 about 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the 4400 block of East 28th Street to a request by Tucson Fire Department paramedics for assistance, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
The area is near East 29th Street between South Columbus Boulevard and South Swan Road.
Firefighters told police that there was a possible shooting victim at the residence. Officers arrived first and found a man inside the residence with gunshot trauma, said Bay.
Officers rendered aid and summoned paramedics who continued treating the man. He was taken to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival, Bay said.
Homicide detectives learned that several individuals entered the residence and one was armed with a firearm, said Bay. At some point, Ridgley was shot and the individuals ran in an unknown direction.
The investigation is continuing and detectives said the shooting was not a random act, Bay said.
Detectives ask that anyone with information call 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster hotline.
