Police have identified the bicyclist killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on Tucson's north side Friday afternoon.

Miguel Angel Quintero, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at North First Avenue and East Prince Road, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Police and Tucson Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene after a 911-call about the crash, and found a man on the road, said Dugan.

Traffic detectives took over the case and spoke to the semi-truck driver, who was cooperating, Dugan said.

Investigators learned that the truck was headed east on Prince and so was the bicyclist who was riding next to the truck. As the truck driver made a right turn to head south onto First, it collided with the bicyclist, said Dugan.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The investigation is continuing, but speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision, and no citations have been issued.

North First Avenue and East Prince Road was closed to motorists for several hours, said Dugan.
