A 60-year-old man was struck and killed Monday evening as he tried to cross a busy street on Tucson's southeast side, police say.

Scott Jockell was struck about 6:30 p.m. crossing in the 1900 block of South Craycroft Road near East 29th Street, Tucson police said Tuesday in a news release.

Jockell, who was not in a crosswalk, died at the crash scene, the release said.

The unidentified driver of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that struck Jockell stopped immediately and cooperated with police, the release said.

The investigation into the city's 29th pedestrian fatality this year continues, the release said.
