STK police car

A man crossing a busy street Wednesday evening on the city's south side was struck and killed by a car, Tucson police say.

The unidentified man was trying to get across East 22nd Street just west of South Fourth Avenue about 6:15 p.m. when he was struck by a westbound 2015 Ford Focus, Tucson police said Thursday in a news release.

The man was not in a crosswalk, and police say glare from the sun was an issue at the time for westbound drivers. He died at the crash scene.

The driver of the Ford was not impaired, the release said.

No citations have been issued in the ongoing investigation, the release said.
