Dog Days of Summer

Any Tucsonan with a four-legged friend knows that our city loves its pets. But the cat's out of the bag on that one, so to speak, because a national pet-sitting service is touting Tucson as one of the most pet-friendly cities in the United States.

In launching its new tool, the Barkability Score, DogVacay measured more than 1,000 cities against 20 different factors, including the number of local pet service providers, distance from city center, most pet-friendly businesses and cost of dog ownership.

With a total Barkability Score of 85, Tucson far exceeded the national average in all four categories: Vet Availability, Parks and Fun, Pet Services and Quality of Dog Life.

"In a city that gets over 350 days of sunshine, Tucson residents and pups are able to enjoy a host of unbeatable outdoor activities," the website says. "In fact, dogs from every walk of life will enjoy what Tucson has to offer."

Check out the websiteΒ and see what else they have to say.
