A storm system moving into the region late Monday will boost the chances of rain in the Tucson area Tuesday and Wednesday, the forecast says.
While the best chances for rain are likely going to be north and west of Tucson, valley rainfall totals are expected to be between 0.25 and 0.60 inches, the National Weather Service here said Monday.

Snow levels will be about 8500 feet Tuesday afternoon. It will drop to about 7500 feet Wednesday afternoon and 6800 feet Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the weather service said. That means snowfall amounts Tuesday through Thursday morning could be two to five inches in the Sky Islands south of Tucson, six to nine inches on Mount Lemmon and Mount Graham, and 8 to 12 inches in the White Mountains.
High temperatures are expected to be more than 10 degrees below normal Wednesday and freezing morning temperatures could occur across eastern Santa Cruz County as wells as portions of Cochise County beginning Friday.
