Rain could return to the Tucson area later Monday and higher elevations across southeastern Arizona could get some snow.

A winter storm warning is in effect from 5 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Tucson said on social media.

For areas above 7,000 feet, there could be about eight to 14 inches of snowfall, the weather service says. Mount Lemmon has an altitude of nearly 9,200 feet. Tucson is about 2,600 feet.

Showers could to begin again early Monday afternoon in the Tucson metro area and last through Tuesday, the weather service said.
