A strong weather system moving through Tucson Sunday and into early Monday morning will bring with it rain, mountain snow and strong winds, according to the National Weather Service here.

This means grabbing your jackets and covering your plants as overnight temperatures throughout the entire week are expected to sit below freezing.

Tucsonans can expect showers to begin after 11 a.m. Sunday morning, with a high temperature for the day near 54 degrees, the weather service says.

Breezy conditions with a southeast wind 7 to 12 mph will turn west at 17 to 22 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph.

The chance of precipitation is about 50% with little or no accumulation, the weather service said.

There’s also showers, mixing with snow after 10 p.m. Sunday.

Widespread frost is possible early Monday.

Skies will be mostly cloudy Monday morning, then gradually become clear, with a low of about 24 degrees. Winds could gust up to 28 mph Monday as cloudy skies fade into blue ones.

The remainder of the week appears to be sitting in a sweet spot of mild daily temps and freezing Arizona nights.

While temperatures this time of year are generally in the mid-60s, Monday’s high temp is expected to be 47 degrees with a low of 26 degrees, according to the weather service. These temps trigger a frost warning.

Meteorologists predict that skies will be clear come Tuesday, with a high of 54 degrees and a low of 31.

Wednesday will also be sunny, and the warmest day of the week with a high near 61 and a low of 30 degrees.

Thursday afternoon, there will be a 30 percent chance of rain, but skies will be mostly sunny and the high will be near 57 degrees. A 20% chance of precipitation is possible.

Friday is expected to be sunny, dry and a high of 54 degrees.
