Clouds from a late afternoon monsoon storm swirl over One South Church and downtown on Saturday. Temperatures will remain above normal for the next seven days, the National Weather Service says. There will be daily chances this week of thunderstorms, potentially including strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.

Strong thunderstorms anticipated across southeast Arizona today have the potential to bring blowing dust and heavy rain, the weather service said Wednesday.

Widespread thunderstorm activity is expected this afternoon from a disturbance moving into southeast Arizona from the south.

Strong winds are anticipated, with wind gusts topping 45 mph from Tucson and Nogales to the west and northwest, the National Weather Service here said Wednesday morning.

The threat for heavy rainfall will mostly be concentrated in western Santa Cruz County, the southern portion of the Tohono O'odham Nation and western Pima County. It includes the potential for flash flooding, the weather service said.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible for the remainder of the week and into next week, the forecast says.

An increase in thunderstorm activity is expected Monday and Tuesday.

High temperatures this week and Monday are expected to be about three to five degrees above normal.
