A wildfire burning west of Nogales has grown to 2,300 acres on Thursday, Coronado National Forest officials said.

The Mule Ridge Fire is burning south of the historic mining town of Ruby near Montana Peak. It is human caused and began on Tuesday.

About 149 people have been assigned to the fire, which is burning in grass, brush and oak trees. Four helicopters are being used.

There are three other smaller wildfires burning now on forest lands in Southern Arizona. The fires are in the Chiricahua Mountains near the community of Portal. All there are nearly 100 percent contained, forest officials said Thursday evening.
