A 33-year-old woman died Friday after her car flipped over during a single-vehicle crash in Tombstone, authorities said.

At about 10:30 a.m., Cochise County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Charleston Road at mile post 10, where they discovered a white Chevy Blazer upside down and backed up against a barbed wire fence, said Carol Capas, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's office.

The driver, Janna Todd, was outside of the vehicle, while several bystanders- including two nurses- tried to keep her calm, Capas said.

"Tombstone Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and began treating the victim, when she became unresponsive and they provided life saving measures," Capas said.

Todd, who lives in Tucson, was transported to Canyon Vista Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Capas said.

The initial investigation into the crash has led detectives to believe that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Charleston Road, when it veered off the roadway to the left.

In an effort to get back onto the roadway, Todd overcompensated, causing the vehicle to steer off the right side of the road and roll, coming to a stop at the fence, Capas said.
