A Tucson woman was sentenced to prison after being convicted of child abuse, including one count involving abuse likely to cause death or serious physical injury, officials say.
Rhiannon Dee Whitney was sentenced to 14 years in prison, the Pima County Attorney's Office said on Facebook.
In 2013, Whitney was caring for a two-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy at her home. When the boy's mother picked him up, she saw the condition of the girl and called police.
The girl had "significant facial trauma and was covered in bruises almost from head to toe," the post says.
When police arrived to Whitney's house, she denied having a girl in the house, but officers found her standing in the corner of a bathtub and took her to a hospital.
