UpdatedMovie critic Bruce Miller says “You Should Have Left” would have done well in theaters. However, letting this play out in homes, where the magic supposedly happens, is a genius move. The main character, played by Kevin Bacon, gets creeped out by their vacation rental house and begins to think there’s something there that knows more than he does.

It’s a great introduction to the charms of Pete Davidson and a nice look at someone just searching for love and direction. While Davidson doesn’t stretch too far, he does show there’s a good dramatic actor lurking under all those tattoos.

Clearly, Colfer was looking for his way into the ever-expanding market of bold, new worlds.
