Re: the June 6 column "County listening to cyclists on Skyline-Sunrise redesign."

As both a bike rider and car driver, I have experienced near car-bike accident misses at the Skyline and Sunrise convergence. As a driver going west on Skyline, we enter a free-flow lane, so there is no immediate merging with cars to contend with. The only potential collision is with a bike heading west on Sunrise moving through the blue-painted bike lane. I'm glad someone is asking what to do about it. In the meantime, it remains one of Tucson's most dangerous intersections.

Why not put a stop sign on Skyline before a car enters the bike path? This could be done today while "planning" takes place. We might even discover that this is the most cost-effective solution.
