A Tucson Fire Department paramedic administers oxygen to a cat after a house fire Friday.

Paramedics resuscitated several cats, but could not save them all, during a house fire in central Tucson Friday.

The fire on North Euclid Avenue just north of East Broadway was put out quickly, and human occupants made it out safely, the Tucson Fire Department announced in a Facebook post.

Some felines were less fortunate. The incident ended with "several cats getting rescued and some deceased," the fire department said.

Paramedics used tiny oxygen masks to resuscitate the animals that survived.

The incident shut down Euclid Avenue between East Broadway and East 6th Street for more than an hour on Friday afternoon.

No further details were immediately available.
