Tucson police are looking for witnesses after the body of a man was dumped on Tucson’s south side Tuesday near East Alvord Road and South Jeanette Boulevard.

Police have identified the man whose body was found on the side of the road on Tucson’s south side Tuesday night.

Lester Kirkendall, 49, suffered gunshot wounds and he was declared dead at the scene, Tucson police said in a news release Thursday.

Officers found Kirkendall's body on the side of the road near East Alvord Road and South Jeanette Boulevard after receiving a 911 call around 7 p.m.

Homicide detectives determined that Kirkendall was not killed at the scene. A witness saw a person pull Kirkendall's body out of an older model sedan and then drive away, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a police spokesman.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
