Jeff Hartman’s excellent opinion piece in Tuesday’s paper, “Trump has been elected. What do we do now?” speaks very eloquently to the dilemma that I and so many others face. With the ascendency to the presidency of a person my nearly 100-year-old, formerly Republican mother describes as the “scum of the earth,” I suggest something I’m calling Noche en Negro, or Night in Black. On Inauguration Day, January 20th, unite, commiserate, unwind with friends and others at the watering holes of your choice. Gather together, and as befitting a funeral or state of mourning, wear black.
