Americans are heartbroken by the evil massacre of innocent children and staff in Newtown, Conn. President Obama is calling for “meaningful action.”
The president’s model is Illinois, the only state in the union not allowing citizens to protect themselves by carrying a concealed weapon. How is that working in Chicago?
Some will argue for more taxes, more laws and disarmament of citizens.
We’ve never spent more money for education. This crime required violation of multiple existing laws. Our constitutional right to bear arms to protect ourselves, family, community and nation is not negotiable. “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
Forty-nine states recognize a citizen’s right to self defense, and as citizens arm themselves crime goes down. Illinois is the last state to recognize this fact.
Amazingly the federal government and states make schools, government buildings, hospitals, etc. “gun free zones.” When a murderer goes to a school, city council meeting, etc., he feels confident the innocent will be defenseless except for possibly a uniformed officer that he will take out by surprise.
A simple, immediate, cost-effective solution to protect the innocent is to train and certify willing teachers and staff, hospital, government employees, etc. to have access to a firearm. The police can’t be everywhere all the time and are often too late, as demonstrated at Sandy Hook Elementary School. How many lives would have been saved if willing staff members were allowed to protect the innocent?
