Lawyers for the family of Raymond Mattia, a Tohono O'odham man who was killed by border agents in front of his home on May 18, sent a notice of claim to U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Nov. 16. The notice says the family is seeking either a settlement of $15 million in damages, plus answers to their unanswered questions about Mattia's death, or they will pursue a wrongful death tort claim in U.S. District Court.
