The Arizona gymnastics team is heading to the Sweet 16 after the Wildcats edged 10th-ranked Georgia for second place in the NCAA Regional Semifinal in Seattle on Friday.

The Wildcats qualified for the regional final for the first time since the new four-site regional format started in 2019. Arizona is one step closer to competing in the NCAA championships for the first time since 2002.

Arizona finished in second place behind Missouri with a 196.250 score; the Tigers had 197.650. Georgia had a 196.175 score, while the Wildcats’ in-state rival Arizona State finished with 196.050.

UA senior Emily Mueller had a season-high 9.850 on uneven bars, and senior Alysen Fears tied her season-best score (9.850) in the vault event.

Arizona will compete in the NCAA Regional Final at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle on Sunday at 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
