UA Recruits at Hoophall West Event in Scottsdale

UA basketball recruit Alex Barcello of Tempe Corona del Sol high school cheers on teammates from the bench during the Hoophall West Basketball Invitational at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016.

Arizona signee Alex Barcello scored 25 points but it wasn't enough to stop Basha High School from beating the Aztecs in the Arizona 6A title game Tuesday night.

According to the Republic, Barcello scored 23 points over the first three quarters but was limited to two in the fourth quarter.

Barcello won two state titles as a freshman and sophomore with Corona del Sol but the Aztecs -- who had notably lost Marvin Bagley before last season -- lost in the quarterfinals last season and the finals this season.

While UA says it is having trouble attracting high-major teams into McKale Center, ASU just added a home-and-home series with Kansas. The Jayhawks will host ASU next season and visit Wells Fargo Arena in 2018-19.

ICYMI, Brandon Randolph ended his high school career by leading Westtown School to a Pennsylvania independent schools title.

Arizona is listed at 15-1 to win the NCAA title, while Oregon is 14-1 and UCLA is the second favorite (to North Carolina) at 8-1, according to Vegas Insider.

The Wildcats are "not a bunch of guys with agendas" but are "very predictable" according to anΒ unnamed Pac-12 coach in SI.com

The latest Naismith Award list (down to 10) doesn't include any Arizona players and has only one (Lonzo Ball) from the Pac-12.

Two Pac-12 games tonight in L.A.:

WSU at USC, 8 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks)Β

Washington at UCLA, 9 p.m. (FS1)

Both of those games feature teams the Wildcats could see in Las Vegas next week.

As of now, Arizona is on track to receive the No. 2 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament and play either ASU, Colorado, WSU or Stanford (the likely teams for a 7-vs-10 game that would feed into a quarterfinal with the No. 2 seed).

If you're looking to plan ahead, the No. 2 seed quarterfinal game would be at 7 p.m. MST on Thursday and the winner of that game will play at 9:30 p.m. on Friday (a possible UA-UCLA rubber match).Β

The full schedule is on page 7 of the attached Pac-12 release.
