Los Angeles point guard Brandon Williams chose UA over Gonzaga, UCLA, USC and Kansas.

Five-star Los Angeles point guard Brandon Williams committed to play for the Arizona Wildcats in 2018-19, giving the Wildcats a second member of what will necessarily be a large recruiting class.

Williams announced his decision Wednesday afternoon on Twitter, picking the Wildcats over Gonzaga, UCLA, USC and Kansas.

The 6-foot-1 Williams is a scoring point guard who is known for speed and the ability to score or distribute, and a strong upside as a defensive player. He has played for Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, Calif., and for the California Supreme travel ball club.

“He’s got a tremendous feel for the game,” Crespi Carmelite coach Russell White told Arizona Desert Swarm in February. “His ability to see the floor. His ability to put the ball in the hoop are elite for his level. He has a knack for making plays at the right time.”

However, Williams missed most of his junior season and the spring travel-ball season with a knee injury, the specifics of which have not been disclosed. He told Scout that he expects to return by July.

Williams will join Los Angeles power forward Shareef O’Neal in the Wildcats’ class of 2018. Arizona is expected to add at least five players in the class of 2018, since they could lose six or more players next spring between graduation and early pro departures.
