Senior tailback Nick Wilson, who has struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons, is listed as questionable for the Arizona Wildcats’ game against Houston on Saturday.

Wilson is one of two players given the questionable designation for Week 2. The other is starting tight end Trevor Wood. Both have ankle injuries.

Wilson has missed 11 games the past two seasons because of knee and ankle issues. He spent extra time in the offseason working with trainers to improve his strength and flexibility. He gained 87 yards on eight carries vs. Northern Arizona last week.

Arizona has excellent depth at running back. J.J. Taylor is considered Wilson’s equal. Senior Zach Green and freshman Nathan Tilford combined for 136 yards on nine carries last week. Redshirt sophomore Branden Leon recently received a scholarship.

Wood hobbled off in the third quarter against NAU. If he can’t play, redshirt freshman Jamie Nunley could start. Nunley missed the opener because of a back injury. He is listed as probable for Week 2.

Safety Isaiah Hayes (shoulder) and DE-LB DeAndre’ Miller (foot) remain out. Walk-on receiver Donovan Walker (shoulder) also will miss Saturday’s game.

One piece of potentially good news: Backup quarterback Khalil Tate is not listed on the injury report. Tate left the NAU game in the second half after landing hard on his throwing shoulder.
