The UA softball team made quick work of Grand Canyon on Sunday, beating the Antelopes 8-0 to complete a three-game sweep in which the Wildcats didn’t allow a run.

With the game-time temperature at 101 degrees at Hillenbrand Stadium, the No. 10-ranked Wildcats (38-13) scored three runs in the first inning to take charge early on Senior Day. The UA ended the game via the mercy rule with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, winning the game in just 1 hour, 40 minutes.

UA outscored the Antelopes (27-26) 18-0 in the series to extend its win streak to nine. The Wildcats visit last-place Stanford starting Thursday for their last series of the regular season. Arizona finished 25-4 during the regular season at home.

Taylor McQuillin (24-9) allowed three hits in five innings, striking out seven for her 12th shutout of the season. That’s the most for a UA pitcher since Kenzie Fowler had 15 in 2010.

Dejah Mulipola was 2 for 4 and drove in four runs in the win. She hit a two-run homer in the fourth to make it 6-0, then ended the game with a two-run single in the fifth.

Reyna Carranco had two hits and scored three times, while Joelle Krist drove in two runs on a first-inning single.

The Wildcats have owned Stanford in recent seasons, winning 13 in a row since their last loss to the Cardinal in 2013. The UA has outscored Stanford 138-31 while going 12-0 over the last four years.
