The Arizona Wildcat is in the Sweet 16.
Wilbur T. Wildcat and 15 other mascots will butt heads - and tails and googly eyes - as part of the Capital One All-America Mascot Team.
The promotional campaign, announced Monday, will last throughout the NCAA regular football season.
Fans can vote each week for their favorites in head-to-head matchups at www.CapitalOneBowl.com and www.facebook.com/MascotChallenge.
Wilbur's Week 1 opponent is Auburn's Aubie, an orange tiger.
The top eight mascots, based on head-to-head results, will be put into a bracket to be played out during the postseason.
The field is filled with mascot legends: Western Kentucky's Big Red, Maryland's Testudo, Michigan State's Sparty, TCU's SuperFrog and Ohio State's Brutus Buckeye.
There are tigers (Aubie and LSU's Mike) and dogs (Georgia's Hairy Dawg and Nevada's Wolfie Jr.).
Also in competition are flying things (Georgia Tech's Buzz, Iowa State's Cy, Oregon's Duck) and killer B's (Oregon State's Benny Beaver, Old Dominion's Big Blue and Oklahoma's Boomer).
All 16 get $5,000 for their schools' mascot endowment fund.
The winner, announced at the Jan. 2 Capital One Bowl, will receive $20,000 for the fund. The UA has its own Wilbur T. and Wilma T. Mascot Endowment.
