After beating Arizona 92-84 on Saturday, Purdue also grabbed the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll back from the Wildcats.

Arizona (8-1) fell from No. 1 to No. 4, while Purdue moved up from No. 3 to the top spot. Purdue (10-1) had also held the No. 1 spot the week of Nov. 27 before losing at Northwestern on Dec. 1.

The Wildcats will face two more well-regarded teams this week before a short Christmas break: On Wednesday in Phoenix against Alabama, which received votes in the AP poll despite its 6-4 record, and on Saturday in Las Vegas against Florida Atlantic (9-2), which moved up one spot to No. 14 on Monday.

Kansas (10-1) remained in the No. 2 spot in this weekโ€™s poll while Houston (11-0) moved up one spot to No. 3 and UConn (10-1) remained at No. 5. Kansas won at Indiana while UConn beat then-No. 10 Gonzaga in Seattle on Friday.

Among other UA opponents this season, Wisconsin (8-3) fell one spot to No. 24, while Colorado (8-2) picked up the 28th-most points in voting and Utah (8-2) the 29th most. Michigan State (5-5) also gained 12 points.

Wheeler named Pac-12 Player of the Week

Washington guard Sahvir Wheeler was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after collecting 19 points and 14 rebounds in the Huskiesโ€™ double-overtime win over Seattle on Sunday.

Arizona had nominated Caleb Love, who had 29 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in the Wildcatsโ€™ loss to Purdue. Love shot 9 of 19 from the field and also made all seven free throws he took.

Other nominees for the weekly honor included Utahโ€™s Branden Carlson, who had 26 points in the Utesโ€™ win over Utah Valley and Coloradoโ€™s K.J. Simpson, who had 21 points and five steals in the Buffaloesโ€™ win over Northern Colorado.

Stanfordโ€™s Andrej Stojakovic was named the Pac-12โ€™s Freshman of the Week after scoring 17 points in the Cardinalโ€™s 82-64 win over Idaho on Sunday. Arizona did not nominate a player for that honor.

Kriisa debuts with 20

After sitting out his nine-game NCAA suspension for taking benefits while at Arizona, guard Kerr Kriisa scored 20 points in his debut for West Virginia on Saturday, though the Mountaineers lost 87-79 to UMass.

Kriisa hit 6 of 15 3-point attempts while also posting seven assists to two turnovers.

Kriisa transferred from Arizona to West Virginia last spring after spending three seasons with the Wildcats, one under coach Sean Miller and two under Tommy Lloyd. He averaged 9.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists with a 2-1 assist-turnover ratio for Arizona last season.
