Arizona bolstered its secondary with a commitment from junior-college safety Marquis Brown, who pledged to the Wildcats late Monday night on his Instagram page.Β

The 6-4, 200-pound safety from Golden West Community College in Huntington Beach, California selected the Wildcats over Washington State, UTSA, UConn, North Carolina State and Houston. Brown took an official visit last week.Β

According to 247Sports.com's composite rankings, Brown is the 64th-best junior-college prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. The Portland, Oregon native had 62 tackles and five interceptions during his lone season at Golden West Community College, which is the same school that produced former UA and NFL offensive lineman Glenn Parker.

Although the Wildcats currently have four starters returning in the defensive secondary, Arizona has a few inexperienced and unproven players competing for reps. Plus, veteran defensive back DJ Warnell entered the transfer portal, but is weighing his options and still practicing with the team.Β
