The Arizona Wildcats returned to the Dick Tomey Practice Field and Cole and Jeannie Davis Sports Center for their second spring football practice.

Here are takeaways from Arizona's 16-period practice on Thursday:

* Running backs practiced ball security and body leverage on Thursday. While running backs stepped over agility pads while holding the ball, running backs coach Alonzo Carter and other coaches used poles with boxing gloves attached to them to poke at the ball. Dallas-area product and freshman Cornelius Warren III, who is an early enrollee, struggled with pad level.

* In a walk-through period, Arizona had a two-running back lineup of Texas State transfer Ismail Mahdi and redshirt sophomore Kedrick Reescano. Screen passes to running backs appear to be a key component in new offensive coordinator Seth Doege's system.

Running back Ismail Mahdi executes a drill during an Arizona football spring practice on March 18, 2025.

* Arizona used the same starting offensive line from Tuesday's practice: left tackle Michael Wooten, Georgia Tech transfer Jordan Brown at left guard, redshirt junior center Grayson Stovall, returning starter Alexander Doost at right guard and redshirt freshman Matthew Lado at right tackle, with Texas Tech transfer Ty Buchanan (6-6, 314 pounds) and Michigan transfer Tristan Bounds (6-8, 291 pounds) rotating in at tackle. Stovall and Hawaii transfer Ka'ena Decambra are among the names earning reps at center.

* Arizona's first receiver trio on Thursday was redshirt junior Chris Hunter III, Washington State transfer slot Kris Hutson and Kansas State transfer Tre Spivey III.

*Redshirt junior Rex Haynes caught a deep ball over two defenders near the sidelines. Haynes is the son of former Arizona State Sun Devil and NFL defensive back Mike Haynes.

*Mercyhurst tight end transfer Cameron Barmore (6-6, 230 pounds) looks like a dynamic pass-catcher. The receiver-converted-tight end caught 73 passes for 978 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Lakers last season.

* Former Arizona center Josh Baker attended Thursday's practice. Baker wasn't one of Arizona's eight representatives at Big 12 Pro Day in Frisco, Texas this week.

* Former Arizona linebacker Marcel Wade and offensive lineman Glenn Parker attended Thursday's practice.

* Several 2026 recruits were in attendance for Thursday's practice, including Phoenix-area offensive tackle Malachi Joyner and Las Vegas edge rusher Prince Williams, a three-star prospect from Bishop Gorman High School.

* Thursday was Brent Brennan's 52nd birthday.
