Arizona’s first defensive addition in the transfer portal is defensive end Chancellor Owens, who committed to the Wildcats Saturday night.

Owens is transferring from Northwestern State, an FCS school in Louisiana. Owens chose the Wildcats over Cincinnati, according to CBS and 247Sports.

In two seasons at Northwestern State, the 6-3, 260-pound Haslet, Texas native recorded 78 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Defensive end Chancellor Owens joined Arizona after two seasons at Northwestern State.

After signing mostly interior defensive linemen for 2025, the Wildcats were in need of edge rushers, especially after the loss of Ta’ita’i Uiagalelei, who entered the transfer portal earlier this week and senior Lance Keneley.

Other edge rushers at Arizona include starters Tre Smith and Chase Kennedy, along with Dominic Lolesio and Sterling Lane II.

Owens is the second transfer to commit to Arizona this week. The Wildcats signed former New Mexico wide receiver Luke Wysong Saturday morning. Nearly 30 scholarship players from Arizona have entered the transfer portal since it opened on Monday.
