Arizona head coach Brent Brennan watches his team during spring football at Dick Tomey Field, March 25, 2025.

Arizona held its first fully-padded practice of the spring on Thursday at the Davis Indoor Sports Center and Dick Tomey Football Practice Fields.Β

Here are notes and takeaways from Arizona’s fifth practice:Β Β

* Running back Kedrick Reescano peeled off for a 75-yard touchdown to begin a team period near the end of practice.Β

* Redshirt freshman tight end Dylan Tapley, who was injured all of last season, had a nifty grab in traffic for a 40-yard gain. Freshman quarterback Luke Haugo threw the pass. Β

* Junior linebacker Taye Brown had a TFL in a team period. UT Martin transfer defensive tackle Deshawn McKnight had a fourth-down stop and Northwestern transfer edge rusher Chancellor Owens had a TFL in the same period.

* Defensive tackle Tiaoalii Savea had a tackle for loss and sacked quarterback Braedyn Locke.Β

* Linebacker Riley Wilson recorded a sack and had a few chippy moments with Arizona's offensive players. Wilson and former defensive end Chase Kennedy are expected to have an edge-rushing role in Arizona's three-linebacker formations this season.Β

* Receivers and tight ends used multiple periods to work on blocking, particularly screen passes. Redshirt junior tight end and Phoenix product Tyler Powell has been among the top blockers at tight end.Β

* Arizona practiced punting and swapped reps between sophomore Michael Salgado-Medina and walk-on Jordan Forbes, who unofficially had the longest hang time (4.61 seconds) on Thursday. Salgado-Medina's best hang time was 4.31 seconds.Β

* Quarterback Cole Tannenbaum is no longer with the team. Tannenbaum was Arizona’s backup quarterback last season. Tannenbaum played the last three seasons at the UA.Β

* Former Wildcat and special teams captain Barrett Baker attended practice.Β Baker is now a battalion chief for the Tucson Fire Department.Β
