Brent Brennan’s “redline” mantra for the Arizona football program has grown into a partnership with Arizona’s home for NASCAR.
Phoenix Raceway is partnering with Arizona football, Arizona Athletics and Arizona Sports Enterprises for a “Redline” collaboration to promote NASCAR at the UA.
“Phoenix Raceway is proud to collaborate with the outstanding leadership at the University of Arizona and another beloved brand in Arizona, the Wildcats,” Phoenix Raceway president Latasha Causey said in a news release. “Our team continues to create new ways for motorsports fans to experience the excitement of NASCAR while showcasing the pride and energy of Arizona sports.”
During Arizona’s battle with BYU on Oct. 11, Phoenix Raceway will be at Arizona Stadium to promote NASCAR championship weekend from Oct. 31-Nov. 2. The promotion will include a Phoenix Raceway pace car with “Redline” decals leading the team bus and game-day entrance.
Arizona football head coach Brent Brennan stands with Phoenix Raceway president Latasha Causey and Wilbur Wildcat at Phoenix Raceway on Sept. 20, 2025.
Fans can also experience a NASCAR show car display and interactive fan engagement and social promotions. Causey will be one of the honorary captains for the pregame coin toss.
“This collaboration with Phoenix Raceway gives Arizona Athletics a dynamic platform to extend our reach across the state,” Arizona athletic director Desireé Reed-Francois said. “We appreciate the chance to connect with fans and future Wildcats, engage new communities, share the Wildcat story in innovative ways and look forward to carrying on the momentum we build together.”
The “Redline” collaboration kicked off on Saturday, when Brennan dressed up in a racing suit and got behind the wheel of a NASCAR race car at Phoenix Raceway — and literally redlined.
“Being part of the NASCAR Experience and then bringing that energy into Arizona Stadium is unforgettable,” Brennan said. “It’s the kind of collaboration between iconic sports brands that gives our players, fans, and community something special to rally around, and I am grateful to the hard work of our staff, administration, the team at the (Phoenix) Raceway, and Anachel (marketing and communications company) for making it happen.”
Smith named to ‘Good Works Team’
Arizona defensive back Genesis Smith was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which recognizes 22 college football players and a head coach for their commitment to community service.
In August, Smith was one of 116 players added to the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy preseason watch list. The Wuerffel Trophy is given annually to a college football player who exemplifies excellence in community service, academics and performance. Smith is one of 11 players from the AFCA Good Works Team eligible for the Wuerffel Trophy.
In the last year, Smith started his own foundation and began a holiday campaign, “Christmas Cats,” to donate gifts to families in Tucson and Phoenix during the holiday season. Smith also hosted a camp at Doolen Middle School in the spring. Campers attended the Arizona spring showcase in April and toured the UA football facilities.
Fans can vote for the recipient of the Wuerffel Trophy at ESPN.com/Allstate through Nov. 10. The winner will be announced on Dec. 12.
