Ryan Stotland on Wednesday became the latest Arizona head coach to sign a contract extension.
Stotland, who has led the women’s tennis program since 2018, signed a three-year deal to remain in Tucson through 2028, the school announced.
Arizona coach Ryan Stotland, shown during the March 29, 2025, match against ASU, led the Wildcats to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade last year.
“Coach Stotland is building meaningful momentum — on the court, in the classroom and throughout our community,” UA athletic director Desireé Reed-Francois said in a news release. “For the first time since 2012, our women’s tennis program has earned back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, a testament to the competitive culture he is cultivating. His student-athletes achieved a program-high 3.83 GPA and are active in serving our community, all while representing Arizona with pride and purpose. We look forward to building on that success under his leadership.”
The 2024-25 Wildcats achieved a season-high ranking of No. 26. Along the way, Arizona defeated rival ASU for the first time since 2014. The Cats finished 19-11, continuing a steady upward trend since Stotland took over the program.
“I’m grateful to President Dr. Suresh Garimella and Director of Athletics Desireé Reed-Francois for their continued belief in me and in the program,” Stotland said in the release. “We’ve made tremendous strides, and I’m proud of the culture, competitiveness and character our team continues to embody. Arizona is home, and I’m excited for the opportunity to keep elevating the program and building something special. Bear Down.”
Stotland is the second UA coach to sign an extension this week. Baseball coach Chip Hale inked a new deal Monday after leading the Wildcats to the College World Series.
