Sahuaro's student section tosses talcum powder in the air to celebrate the kick-off against arch-rival Sabino at Sahuaro High School, Tucson, Ariz., September 6, 2019.

Tucson Unified School District officials will not allow spectators at high school football games, which begin Friday night throughout the city.

The decision is different from decisions made by the Vail, Sahuarita and Amphitheater school districts, all of which allow limited and socially distanced fans. Players at Salpointe Catholic and Pusch Ridge Christian are allowed to bring a few fans apiece with them to games.

TUSD’s decision to have empty football stadiums this season will be effective at Tucson High, Rincon/University, Santa Rita, Sabino, Sahuaro, Pueblo, Palo Verde, Cholla and Catalina.
