Desert View High School running back and free safety Jaylee Abraham was named the Bijan Robinson Arizona Bowl High School Player of the Year earlier this week for his breakout season with the Jaguars.

The sophomore logged 1,716 rushing yards (8.9 yards per carry), 37 touchdowns, 46 tackles, five interceptions and 30 receptions for 574 yards this season.

Abraham helped lead the Jaguars to a perfect regular season with an overall 11-0 record.

The Jaguars made a run for the state championship title, but were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the tournament after losing to Waddell’s Canyon View High School, 38-28.

This season, Abraham earned multiple recognitions, including Region Player of the Year and All-5A Southern accolades on offense, defense and as a punt returner.

Winning the Bijan Robinson Arizona Bowl High School Player of the Year award is a bit of a full-circle moment for Abraham.

Desert View's Jaylee Abraham yells as he crosses the line for a score on fourth and an inch to give the Jaguars the lead 28-24 late in the fourth quarter against Canyon View in the state 5A quarterfinal, Nov. 21, 2025, in Tucson.

When speaking to the Star toward the beginning of the season, he explained that he emulates his running back skillset after Salpointe Catholic alum and current NFL player Bijan Robinson.

“When I was in youth (football), I saw Bijan play before,” he told the Star. “Bijan is from Tucson, too. I’m not trying to be the next Bijan, I’m trying to be the next Jaylee, and I’m trying to make it big like he did. I just gotta follow the steps and be disciplined.”

With a successful season and a few athletic honors under his belt, it’s all business for Abraham and the Jaguars as they work to run it back next season.

“It feels great to make history, but I wish we ended just a little bit better, but we get back to work and then get ready for next year and we're gonna be nice next year,” Abraham told the Star after the quarterfinals.
