Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton’s bucket with 0.3seconds remaining gave his team a 111-110 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Haliburton, who finished the game with 16 points, knocked down a 21-foot jumper to shock the 64-win Thunder on their home floor. Oklahoma City star and reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had the ball in his hands with 12 seconds to go, with his team being up one point. However, the 26-year-old missed his own two-pointer, with the Pacers grabbing the rebounds and handing the ball to Haliburton, who produced his late-game heroics. “Some players will say they have it, but there are other players that show it. He wants to be the one to hit that shot. He doesn't shy away from that moment,” said Myles Turner, Pacers center. Haliburton’s game-winner is the latest in the Finals since Michael Jordan’s buzzer-beater in Game 1 in 1997 against the Utah Jazz. The Pacers trailed by 15 points in the fourth quarter, with the comeback marking the fifth time the team has overcome such a deficit this postseason, the most since 1998. Additionally, Indiana’s lead with 0.3 seconds left was their first of the game and was the latest in any Finals game in over 50 years. Despite the win, the Pacers turned the ball over 25 times, 19 of which came in the first half, the most by any team in a Finals game in 35 years. Gilgeous-Alexander led the scoring in the game with 38 points, with Indiana’s Pascal Siakam clocking a team-high 19 points.
