The Tucson Sugar Skulls dropped their second straight game after falling to the San Antonio Gunslingers 48-28 Saturday night at Tucson Arena.

Tucson’s (3-5) setback puts the Sugar Skulls at fifth place in the IFL Western Conference standings.

The Sugar Skulls have lost three straight games to San Antonio (3-6) dating back to last season.

San Antonio out-gained the Sugar Skulls in total offense on Saturday, 275-164 yards. The Gunslingers converted a combined 8 of 13 third- and fourth-down conversions, while the Sugar Skulls were 2 of 8.

The Gunslingers jumped out to a 28-6 lead at halftime and scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half. San Antonio led 41-12 going into the fourth quarter.

San Antonio quarterback Joaquin Collazo completed 12 of 17 passes for 153 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, while Tucson quarterback Jorge Reyna completed 9 of 16 passes for 103 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Former Arizona Wildcat and defensive end Taylor Upshaw, who signed with Tucson last week, had a tackle in his debut with the Sugar Skulls.
