Downtown Community School is hosting open play days so parents can have a couple hours of free time.

If you're itching for a couple of hours of free time on Saturday, you can take the kids to the Downtown Community School for Open Play.

The kids can engage in free-play, mud-play, dramatic-play, junk-collage and more while you hang out with other parents or do your own thing in the community work space (yes, there's wifi).

Play times are separated by age into two groups.

The 3- and 4-year-old children can have their time from 9-11:30 a.m. and 5-to-7-year-old kids can play from 1-3:30 p.m.

This is the first time the school has offered open play, but there are plans to host it on a monthly basis.

About the school

Downtown Community School is a small play-based preschool and kindergarten that provides a stimulating play environment to support self-direction, expression and freedom. The teachers there see themselves as play facilitators and emotional coaches and they believe children learn best when their environment is full of opportunities to explore and experiment.
