It's the middle of August and we're feeling the back to school vibes more than ever. Bring on the learning! *Puts on glasses and sharpens pencil.*

Classes begin for the University of Arizona and Pima Community College next week and all of the schools in town are open. 

What better way to refresh our expanding minds than with a bunch of smart deals and fun events happening in Tucson this weekend. 

• It's time to talk fall wardrobe. Target jeans are on sale this week starting at $6 for kids and $15 for adults. Buy one get one 50% off on selected bras, bralettes and women's shoes. • And when you're done checking out the stores, why not buy a cat and go to a birthday party? The Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter and Sanctuary is throwing a Quinceañera for all of their senior cats as part of a national "Clear the Shelters" campaign. Get bendy with farm yoga 

The yoga class will take place on a patio in the center of the farm. 

Las Milpitas de Cottonwood Community Farm is hosting a free yoga class where you can strike a pose with the veggies. It's for all levels and is one of three yoga classes being offered in the patio of the community garden this year.

Tucson clothing treasure Desert Vintage has moved from their place on Fourth Avenue to a new location just a few blocks away. Toast to their new Sixth Avenue location and five year anniversary this Saturday. There will be treats provided their new neighbors, Exo Roast Co.

Tucson turns 242 on Sunday — now that's a lot of birthday candles. Commemorate another year for our town by going to a Tucson birthday party hosted by the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum. There will be a proclamation by Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, mariachi music, a presentation about early Tucson, and let's not forget cake!

Nandi Bubble Birthday Party

Nandi plays in the rain as her second birthday approaches in 2016.

Did you know Nandi the elephant at the Reid Park Zoo and the city of Tucson share a birthday? Our favorite pachyderm is turning three and is celebrating by throwing a big bubble bash. There will be a bubble blizzard in the Tanzania part of the zoo followed by even more bubbles throughout the park. Watch Nandi unwrap (or sit) on present boxes. Kids can take home a free elephant lollipop while supplies last.

Bust out those Nirvana CDs, put on an outfit you purchased from a dELiA*s catalog and party like it's 1999 this Saturday night at the 90s' bar crawl on 4th Ave.

Tickets to this event gets you drink specials at all participating bars, 90s swag and entry to fun activities including a dance competition and costume contest. A portion of the proceeds go to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

Teacher Appreciation Night at the Desert Museum

Guests enjoy a stroll through the dark to the Desert Gardens by the light of the trees during Cool Summer Nights at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.

Join the Arizona-Sanora Desert Museum for one of their Cool Summer Nights events where you can experience the park under the moonlight. Teachers get free admission and 10 percent off gift shop items with a school ID. They can even take home free science books for the classroom.
