Ever dreamed of spending the night in a museum? Make it reality this weekend during Space Night at the Children's Museum Tucson downtown.
This event is an overnight adventure for families where your kids can learn about outer space with help from the Planetary Science Institute — a non-profit headquartered in Tucson dedicated to the exploration of the solar system.
Come in your jammies and bring your sleeping bags. Families have the option to stay over in the museum or bring a tent to sleep under the stars in the courtyard.
Register by Friday, Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. Call 520-792-9985, option 5, to reserve your campout spot — it's on a first-come, first-served basis.
Families will receive a lantern to use for their sleepover adventure and are also allowed to bring in flashlights.
They've got some fun things to do while you're there. Take your photo with a thermal camera, build and launch your very own rocket, hang out with robots or make an edible spacecraft.
There's also a pizza party in the evening and breakfast in the morning so you don't have to worry about food.
If camping isn't your speed don't worry, the museum will be hosting a "Space Day" on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 2-5 p.m. where you can still meet members of the Planetary Science Institute and do some of the overnight actives like touch a real meteorite and make dry ice bubbles. Regular admission applies for this.
