Truth be told, this list includes more than 100 events. Spoiler alert: April is busy.

From annual favorites like the Pima County Fair and Agave Heritage Festival to smaller gatherings like seed swaps, birthday bashes and dance parties, April is filled with lots of things to do.

Old Pueblo Playwrights’ New Play Festival

Nearly a dozen playwrights will present readings of original works during this festival hosted by Old Pueblo Playwrights, who have been hosting the showcase for three decades.

First Thursday at Tucson Museum of Art

Visit the Tucson Museum of Art every first Thursday of the month for pay-what-you-wish admission, gallery activities, live music and a cash bar. This month's event will also feature a death cafe, Empanadas el Dominicano and the chance to connect with Community Gardens of Tucson.

Antigona 3.0 

Catch a showing of "Antigona 3.0," by Borderlands Theater Ensemble and Jesus I. Valles, at the Scoundrel & Scamp Theater. The production is described as a "postcolonial dark comedy that takes an irreverent look at the American Theatre, the US-Mexico border and the generational trauma that has plagued us all."

When: Now through April 14; 7:30 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays

A Western Experience at Old Tucson

Old Tucson has returned to its roots with "A Western Experience." There will be live stunt shows, old-fashioned games, historical tours, rides and a petting zoo.

When: 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays-Sundays through May 5, plus other select dates through May 12

High School Battle of the Bands at Reid Park April 7 🎸

Tucson Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Best Life Presents, Arizona Daily Star, KXCI, Ranch House Media, Cloud Microphones and Groundworks to host the Second Annual High School Battle of the Bands on Sunday, April 7, beginning at noon at Gene C. Reid Park, DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center (OPC), 800 S. Concert Place. Bands, with artists between the ages of 13-18 years old, will compete for the grand prize. Grand prize winners will record an album and receive promotion from Best Life Presents.

Safe Shift Store 3-Day Sale

The Safe Shift estate store, which helps raise funds for firefighters and first responders through the Greater Tucson Fire Foundation, opens its doors for three days each month. Past items for sale have included furniture, home decor, kitchen items, books and more.

The annual Tucson Folk Festival features more than 150 live performances across six stages. Headliners include Lisa Morales Band, Steve Poltz, Leslie Mendelson, Baba Marimba and more.

Self-care Classes for Couples and Individuals with Relationship Renovation

"The Radical History of Enrika la Quarta" by Shakesqueer Theater

Shakesqueer Theater has staged five shows since forming in 2017. Their sixth show, which ends this weekend, is their first musical. The troupe uses the Bard's "Henry IV" as a template for "The Radical History of Enrika la Quarta," which takes place in the early days of the Spanish Revolution of the late 1930s.

"The Monty Tale of King Arthur" at Valley of the Moon

Tucson fantasy park Valley of the Moon is bringing King Arthur's story to life. The park says to expect "zany humor, social satire and cartoonish violence" in the April shows.

Touch-A-Truck

Junior League of Tucson is hosting a family-friendly event where kids will be able to touch, climb and explore vehicles. Last year's lineup included firetrucks, police cars, a school bus, a USPS truck and construction equipment. There will also be crafts and food trucks.

When: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6. 9:30-10:30 a.m. is dubbed a quiet hour, without horns and bright lights.

Solar Eclipse at Flandrau

Catch the partial solar eclipse on Monday, where Tucson will see about 75% of the sun's diameter covered by the moon. Flandrau will have solar telescopes, planetarium shows and discounted admission to the science exhibits, in addition to $2 solar-viewing glasses. Flandrau says after Monday, Tucson won't see comparable coverage from a solar eclipse until 2045.

Bear Down Music Festival

The inaugural Bear Down Music Festival, which replaces the UA's Spring Fling, will feature musicians Coin, Redveil, Desert Child and The Hawthorne Experience. There will also be interactive mural painting, food trucks, photo booths, rides and inflatables, face painting, henna art, airbrush tattoos and a drink tent.
