ShopUp Tucson debuts this weekend with four vintage pop-up shops. Owner Mary Vancza would like to see a new pop-up in the space regularly.

A new business just off of Fourth Avenue is creating a permanent space for local artisans and entrepreneurs to do business — even if they don't have a space of their own.

It's called ShopUp Tucson, and it's basically a space for an ongoing series of pop-up shops.

This weekend's vintage pop-up is the debut.

Mary Vancza, previously a manager with Saguaro Market, is the owner of the new space at 329 E. Seventh St. Born and raised in Tucson, she spent almost 20 years in Costa Rica before returning to the Old Pueblo about six years ago.

On Wednesday afternoon, Mary Vancza, owner of ShopUp Tucson, was still setting up the vintage finds you can shop this weekend at the store's first pop-up market.

"ShopUp is going to be a pop-up venue," she said. "It's an affordable, short-term retail space for rent for artisans, antique dealers, small businesses that just closed. We could do meetings here or workshops or an array of things. People will have the option of renting part of the store or the entire store."

Vancza said she's not yet comfortable sharing rates, but rental prices will include the use of tables, racks and other fixtures to display merchandise. The space is just under 2,400 square feet, although some of that will be used for an office and storage.

"We want to curate different, interesting shows for people," she said.

The vintage shops participating in this weekend's pop-up are Eyes of an Owl, Vintage Rust and Chip, Collected Artifacts and Miss Century Marvels.

"The idea is that eventually it will become a fresh store every week," she said.
