This is no fairy tale.
For the ninth year, Tucson teens can peruse prom dresses and take home their dream dress at no cost.
Sisters Melissa Tureaud and Jennifer Megaw are the fairy godmothers behind Cinderella's Closet and Prom-O-Rama.
This year, high school juniors and seniors can browse more than 1,200 dresses at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10.
Accessories and shoes donated by Goodwill's GoodThreads Boutique will also be available Saturday.
Cinderella's closet is still accepting dresses for donations — especially plus-size gowns. Just make sure the dress is clean and a "modern-day prom dress," Tureaud says. "We get some crazy stuff."
You can drop off donations at Tureaud's State Farm office, 7661 E. Speedway, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
"It's not just about prom, it's about keeping girls active in school and just having that one night, no matter what's going on in a girl's life, when she can dress up and feel beautiful," Tureaud says. "Let's be real, we don't ever get to do that unless you're getting married."
