If you're looking for a little dose of art and adventure during your lunch break look no further than Jessica Kranz's Instagram.
Kranz, who is a Artistic Behavioral Health Specialist and Art Manager at PSA Art Awakenings, has been living in Tucson for 13 years after moving from her hometown of Flagstaff.
With an eye for spotting unique street art and the details of Tucson, it's easy to feel like Kranz is on one big expedition of our town.
She even shares some of her artwork, which ranges from painting, drawing, collaging and everything in between.
Here's what Jess had to say about her life and art on Instagram:
What made you start an Instagram account?
Honestly, my girlfriend started one so I felt I had to show up, too. She's a photographer... there *may* have been a competitive undertone. It has since become my favorite social media platform.
What do you like taking photos of?
Art! Colors, textures, light, places I've adventured to, artwork that moves me, creative projects I am working on. For me, Instagram is a curated gallery of inspiration.
What inspires you to create and share your artwork with others?
Art is my passion and creating gives me purpose. I enjoy sharing my work with others, getting feedback, trading ideas. I also really enjoy the collective community of art makers on Instagram. It's wonderful seeing the projects/works in progress that others share and being able to support and motivate one another.
How has Tucson inspired your photos?
Moving to the desert after growing up the in mountains has definitely impacted my perception of place and beauty. I never thought it would happen but I've fallen in love with this town and I think my photos and artwork are inspired by that relationship. The landscape, the skies, the smells, our wonderful community, make it fun to tell beautiful stories through images.
What do you hope people take away from your images?
Instagram gives a little glimpse into other peoples' worlds. My hope is that folks will get a sense of who I am and the passion I have for creative expression.
Who else do you like to follow on Instagram?
Tucson folks I love to follow: @mamtapopat, @revolta_art, @marcyellis, @charpentee, @loriannadkison, @whyIlovewhereIlive and @tk_miller.
Beyond our desert: @oliverjeffers, @lisacongdon, @glittermountain, @thejealouscurator, @upbeatlibrarian and @johanaamepham.
