As the day turns to evening lions settle in for a rest during the Safari Nights.

Reid Park Zoo is offering full scholarships to 40 low-income children to attend its summer camp.

The zoo's one-week camps show kids in grades 1-6 how the animal care staff uses STEM to care for animals and why saving wildlife and their habitats is so important.

"We are thrilled to be offering this opportunity to the community for the second year," said Jennifer Stoddard, the education supervisor at Reid Park Zoo. "This scholarship fund has allowed us to better serve our community and provide an unforgettable experience to those who may not have been able to otherwise."

The scholarships, valued at $275 each, include summer camp registration fee and daily lunch from the zoo's restaurant.

If your child qualifies for his or her school's free or reduced lunch program and your family receives government assistance, you can apply for the zoo scholarship here by April 30.
